Part 1 : i need a brake!

Friday - the main target is to fix the annoying noise sound from the subframe area,which at first suspected was a broken drive shaft

since we going to open most of the rear part today,i decided to install the r33 2pot as well and swap the tein faulty rear top mount with the JIC one

with the help of my friend Sham a.k.a Mong-gek

halfway through we noticed that is wasn't the drive shaft that was causing the damn noise since there was nothing wrong with it~

thanks to a poor installation that was done by the previous mechanic~the inner part of the drum shoes have fallen a part..

the damage~spring,washer,clip etc~brake shoes and the inner part of the brake disc rotor..

not to mention this was on the both side~left and right....SIGH!

luckily i have a spare x9 subframe at home and F.I.Y x8 and x9 share the same brake shoe=D

pulled out the parts needed and one problem solved :P

i cant use the x9 brake shoe becoz it was already too thin~so i went to Weng Hin~only to find out the item cost rm360 for a pair,need to be ordered plus i have to wait another 2 week huhuhu

upon discussion with Mong-gek,he told me that to sand paper the rough part of the brake shoe since it is still thick and use it back..

next thing to do is to sent some stuff over to Wah Seng (machinery shop) to change the slightly torn drive shaft boot cover,skim the disc and make a bracket for the r33 2pot caliper~

noticed the yellow thing on the second picture...

now the only thing to do is wait~

i supposed to change the rear suspension back to JIC yesterday..i drove all the way to pick it up from my parent home in Kajang to my place in KL..removed the kit,backseat,jack up the car only to discover i didn't have enough tools..maaaaderrfarker!

considering that i have to work at 6pm (take note its Sunday...urgh) i postponed it till next week,packed up and start the car,guess what..it wont start..after checking all the necessary thing,

i try again..everything was okay,it start ok~then i noticed the "engine check light" went blinking on and off a couple of time..5 minute running,engine went into subaru imprezza version 8 boxer mode and revving stuck at 2000rpm...later it when dead again for good..

haven't got a decent time to properly check the problem and Joe40c will be coming tomorrow~

i have a feeling that its the ECU..we'll see if im right or wrong hahaha

Sunday,decided to do something i been pending for a ages already~

changing this bastard~ tein is 5mm and jic is around 10mm

while im on the subject,i install the r33 wheels

offset +30 is weak~as much as i hate spacer, the rear seriously need it..looks like a pussy without it...

the front look nice though...

but

the joy didn't last

another tein drama~just like before....wheels cant clear the suspension..

so i head over to joe40c house and borrow his 10mm slip on spacer..got home,put the wheels on,only to find out i cant lock the wheels..run out of stud,thanks to the spacer~madefarkers!!

shit..i got fed up and decided the super advan will stay and the r33 will be use as spare...

done for the day...

gonna ditch the 225/45 and use 215/45 all round instead after this~

oh btw,damn!! i like jyu colour hahahaha

since the JIC is totally "kong" /fucked up haha,the time has come changed it to Tein..

i noticed that one of the sleeve holding the spring is missing,so i went looking for replacement at Prs Sim serdang.. i found one..(and it aint cheap)

4.30pm sunday, with the help from freedoms crew the installation work begin..

then shit happen....

Ipin & Lan noticed one of the tein front adjustable is missing its pillow ball washer...the result could damage the pillow ball...

after busting our ass try to find a replacement(shop are closed already and its sunday!),we decided to take the washer from JIC..opened it up and with the lack of tools making it even harder...then only to find out that JIC washer is longer by 10mm..

its getting late and im growing tired of the Tein drama..fuck it,we just go for it despite the washer height different..

finally...

this is how it look..we apply the lowest height setting on the tein,the white cup as prove hehe...

a little camber,now the 9inch,offset +19 super advan with 225/45 tire is nicely tuck under the fender..
after a quick drive,i felt that rear suspension is too stiff compare to the front,need to adjust the soft-hard setting on the tein..but thats later...too tired and sleepy plus i have to wake up early on monday,to go to work...huhu

i conclude the major different between Jzx81 adjustable JIC and Tein is the height of the absorber..Tein is shorter compare to the JIC..and with JIC u can even more lower setting while Tein have already reach its limit...other than that is merely the same...

as for the JIC,i will send it for repair when i have the money hehe..need to custom the washer as well at foundry/machine shop...

went to check a jzx81 auto halfcut there,when i arrived the boss Ah Yap is busy dismantling the parts

it came with a few performance parts(Bn Sport Front Bumper,Fiber hood, Greddy intercooler n piping, JIC adjustable,custom gril) but as u can see,here whats left of it...not in a good condition either :(

the fiber hood,look kinda scary huh haha...

A Few of X8 members ask me how to do it,and Its really easy,u only need a washer/spacer
or u can custom it at the foundry shop,but make sure the measurement is right between disc/rotor and the adjustable..

some adjustable have a disc cover,but since the nissan 4pot is quite big compare to the stock 1jz brake,u can either cut it or throw it away like me hahaha....

Sight Seeing is Fun...

Saturday,when to the workshop and due to some minor setback the guys still haven't installed the engine...

but they already painted the engine bay silver..hehe

then i decided to follow Eddy G service his rear JIC adjustable at PRS Sim Seri Kembangan..

dunno why servicing the rear is more expensive than the front...rm250 a piece huhuhu.....

spotted this 1jz cressida with chaser facelift modifying the stock suspension to an adjustable..quoted price rm1200 only,for the front set......errk....hahaha

next we picked up Joe666 a.k.a Gaban and went sight seeing in "Sunway" to see cool cars there and wasting time waiting for break fasting...

this supra is owned by the boss of Powercube Motorsport (specialize tuner in 1jz,rb and even 4g-evo engine) check out the rims and the mighty Grippin 6port brake...we also commented on some of the things we like and we dont..hahahha

spotted my dream car...the original GTR 32....

after spending almost half a day there,its time to go home,and Eddy G invited us for "buka puasa" at his house with his family and Gabans...good time and lets do it again next time hehe
